About Brain Injury Association of London and Region

The Brain Injury Association of London and Region is a non-profit organization located in downtown London on King Street. It serves brain injury survivors, their families, and friends throughout London, Middlesex, Elgin, Huron, Oxford, and Perth counties. The organization focuses on maximizing quality of life through support, education, advocacy, and public awareness. The association provides a variety of resources, including free support groups, virtual support groups, and social leisure groups. They offer a peer mentoring program where survivors or family members are partnered with trained volunteers who have first-hand experience with similar situations to share coping strategies and resources via telephone. Additionally, the organization maintains a services directory featuring local providers for legal services, behavioral supports, therapy, accounting, and speech and language pathology. Since 1982, the association has worked to support those affected by brain injury while also focusing on prevention and safety. The organization is composed of community members and professionals who promote head protection and safety initiatives. They have received a Road Safety Award from the Ministry of Transportation for organizing a large helmet sale and have participated in programs like Safe Kids Week. They also provide head protection sessions for various groups in the area.
