David’s Bistro is a traditional French bistro located on Richmond Street in the downtown neighbourhood of London, Ontario. It serves the local community by offering a welcoming atmosphere that functions as a refuge from the changing world, focusing on the bistro tradition of a family-run eatery. The restaurant provides a constantly changing selection of food, including a daily prix fixe menu, a regular menu, and daily features. Specific menu items include appetizers such as lamb terrine with cantaloupe and mint salsa, escargot and mushrooms on sourdough toast, and heirloom tomato salad with crispy prosciutto. Entrées offered range from grilled flat iron steak with house-cut frites to pan-seared Lake Erie pickerel, mushroom and leek risotto, and seafood linguine. The establishment also features an extensive and sensibly priced wine list, with many wines available by the glass or bottle, as well as chalkboard additions. Founded in 1998 by David Chapman, the bistro was established to emphasize all aspects of food rather than just seafood. In 2021, the business was taken over by David's daughter, Natalie, and her husband Ben, who work alongside long-time Chef Elvis to maintain the standards of food, wine, and service established by the founder. The bistro prides itself on building special relationships with its patrons and maintaining a consistent, comforting environment. The restaurant offers lunch on Fridays and dinner from Tuesday through Saturday. For Sundays, a pre-ordered set menu is available. Customers can also utilize delivery and pickup services.
