Ontario Oil, Gas & Salt Resources Library is a professional research resource centre and library located in the Westminster neighbourhood on Exeter Rd. It serves a diverse range of clients, including operators, consultants, government bodies, municipalities, landowners, and researchers who require access to Ontario's subsurface geology and petroleum activity records. The library provides comprehensive support for projects involving drilling, production, geological review, storage, solution mining, compliance, municipal planning, and land evaluation. Its extensive collection includes over 27,000 petroleum well records, 13,000 curated cuttings sets for geologists and engineers, and more than 1,000 bedrock cores from Paleozoic rocks across the province. Specific tools and resources offered include Wellcards for searching licenses and geology, an interactive well map, and data downloads such as GIS packages and monthly production reports. Members also gain access to PxTools projects, protected downloads, and an indoor core viewing facility and lab. Operated by the Ontario Oil, Gas & Salt Resources Corporation, a not-for-profit organization, the library combines physical materials with digital records and staff support to assist users in moving from single well records to broader geological interpretations. The facility manages records licensed under the Oil, Gas, and Salt Resources Act and provides a platform for operators to submit core or cuttings from newly drilled wells. Users can access various production records dating back to 1897, including monthly oil, gas, and water analyses, as well as annual well status reports and geophysical surveys.
