About University Students' Council

The University Students’ Council (USC) is a student-led organization located in the Old North neighbourhood of London, Ontario. Serving as a student government for undergraduate students at Western University, the USC is a nonprofit organization incorporated under the Ontario Nonprofit Corporations Act. Since 1965, it has grown into one of the largest student governments in Canada and one of the largest nonprofits in the city. The council is comprised of a six-person Executive Committee and representatives from each constituency council, including all faculties, affiliates, and professional schools. The USC provides a wide range of services and amenities to support the student experience. These include the PurpleCare health and dental plan, a London Transit Bus Pass for full-time undergraduate students, and the Mustang on Demand app for safe transportation. Students can visit the Purple Store for apparel from brands like Jerico, Mask, TeamLTD, Liberty, and Gildan, or relax at The Spoke. Dining options include The Wave for casual meals and the Food Support Services food bank, which offers a confidential Food Hamper Service and events like Free Breakfasts. Other specialized services include the Peer Support Centre, Ethnocultural Support Services, the Gender Equity Network, the Sexual Wellness Committee, and the PrideUSC initiative. Additionally, the USC provides the Income Tax Clinic, Western Chiropractic, Western Salon, and various grants and recognition awards. The organization also manages community-focused initiatives such as the Early Outreach Leadership Conference (REACH), USC Charity, and Enviro USC. Students can also access the USC InfoSource for campus information. The council operates with a vision that students have the power to change the world, focusing on advocacy, engagement, and improving the quality of life on campus.
