Westminster College Foundation is an educational services organization located in the Downtown neighborhood of London, Ontario, on Dufferin Avenue. The foundation serves the local community by providing grants to registered charitable organizations within London, Middlesex, and Elgin counties. Its primary focus is to fund initiatives that advance healthier communities, specifically targeting the well-being and mental health of youth and seniors, addressing poverty and isolation issues, and supporting affordable housing. The foundation provides funding to various local programs, including the Aeolian Hall Musical Arts, Campfire Circle, M.I. Understanding, the Arthritis Society Canada, Indwell, the Society for Learning in Retirement, Growing Chefs!, and the Huron County Food Bank. Other recipients include the Children's Hospital and various projects like the Embassy Commons Project and Planting Seedlings. The foundation describes itself as self-sufficient, utilizing investment income from endowed funds to provide support rather than actively seeking financial donations. The organization's roots trace back to the 1950s, when seven public-spirited citizens envisioned a residential space for United Church of Canada students attending Western University. Spearheaded by Mr. Donald McGeachy and Mr. Lockwood Miller, Westminster College began operating a residence in 1962. After selling the original property to Western University in 2005, the entity received foundation status in 2007. It continues to operate with a mission to provide dignity for all and support community well-being in the same spirit as its founding.
