About Employment Sector Council

The Employment Sector Council (ESC) is a collaborative network of member organizations located in downtown London on Dundas Street. It serves the region by providing high-quality, consistent employment and training services for both job seekers and employers. The organization describes itself as a community committed to excellence in service delivery, aiming to drive prosperity in Southwestern Ontario through advocacy, information sharing, and professional development. The council offers a variety of services and resources, including the Job Developers Network (JDN), which provides no-fee recruiting, hiring, and training assistance to local employers. ESC provides staff development through the "Wednesdays at One" professional development webinar series, which covers themes such as "what is working?", "engaging employers," and "bite-sized LMI." Other offerings include Common Assessment Process (CAP) training, Labour Market Information (LMI) workshops, JDN onboarding, and LinkedIn Learning workshops. The organization also provides resources for job fairs and maintains a referral chart to help connect businesses with various community employment resources. The Job Developers Network has functioned as a forum for job developers from non-profit employment agencies in the London area since 2011. This network allows professionals to meet, share information, and solve problems to promote collaborative service delivery. ESC also supports initiatives such as the First Work's LinkedIn project and works in coordination with the Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board to share local labour market trends and action plans.
