CNIB Deafblind Community is a non-profit organization located on Baseline Road in the Cranbrook neighbourhood of London. It serves Canadians who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision, as well as their families, friends, and caregivers. The organization is dedicated to empowering these individuals to live the lives they choose by providing innovative programs and advocacy designed to remove barriers to inclusion. The organization offers a wide range of free programs and services categorized into several areas. These include CNIB Guide Dogs, which focuses on raising and training guide dogs exclusively for people with sight loss, and "Live" programs that support daily living skills. Other offerings include "Play" programs for active lifestyles, "Work" programs for career and academic goals, "Learn" programs for education and literacy, and "Technology" programs that provide training on accessible and affordable assistive tech. Additionally, they provide children and youth groups, employment workshops, recreational activities, peer support groups, and technology training sessions. They also operate the CNIB Mobile Hub, which brings in-person programming, social activities, and technology workshops directly to local communities. Founded in 1918, the CNIB Foundation is powered by a national network of volunteers, donors, and partners. The organization emphasizes a commitment to accessibility, diversity, and equity, aiming to create an inclusive environment for everyone. They also engage in advocacy, such as championing guide dog access in transportation, and maintain a commitment to reconciliation through collaboration with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. Volunteers can get involved through various roles, including puppy raisers, boarders, and gardeners for the CNIB Guide Dog Memorial Garden.
